When to use Mepilex Border Sacrum?
Use Mepilex® Border Sacrum for medium to high exuding sacral wounds such as pressure ulcers or surgical excision of pilonidal cysts.
A part of pressure ulcer prevention
Clinical trials have proven that Mepilex® Border Sacrum aids in the prevention of pressure ulcers3. The dressing is applied prophylactically in emergency departments, intensive care units, and the OR. When compared with no dressing or competitors' products, Mepilex® Border Sacrum has been demonstrated to impact four extrinsic factors that can contribute to pressure ulcers. The dressing helps to redistribute shear, reduce pressure, lower friction, and maintain an optimal microclimate.7,8,9. The addition of Mepilex® Border Sacrum has been shown to help reduce the risk of pressure ulcers. However, the use of dressings as part of a prophylactic therapy does not preclude the need to continue to develop and follow a comprehensive pressure ulcer prevention protocol.
Safetac means less pain and less stress at dressing change
Safetac® technology drastically reduces pain and tissue damage during dressing changes. Dressings with Safetac® technology: do not stick to the wound bed; seal the wound edge to prevent maceration6,4,5; do not strip skin2,10; and maintain an optimal wound environment. This means less pain1, less stressful dressing changes11 , and potentially a faster healing process12.
